Getting back on track
So, I didn't get an update out yesterday because not a lot of progress is being made with the map making. My current plan though is to go back to the game docs and design a more purposeful game idea. Like, why does the player need this why should the player have this what feeling should I have the player feel as they go from one critical point to the next. Unfortunately this isn't something a lot of people will see because it is behind the curtain and very subject to change. I will also go over to halo and try to design maps there so I can get used to the feel of making a map with a goal in mind. Since a lot of this will be gaining experience what I have decided to do to show progress is to make a time line. I want to take a week out to design it and show that I have done x amount of things and published them for everyone to see. I will also be working on animations and AI foundations to where I don't need much more programming besides situational programming. I don't know entirely where to start with the AI programming. I know that I need to get the ability to walk to places first. Then I need to implement a state based AI. One where I can put in a chain of states that link from one state to the next and dictates how the enemy should move. I already have the camera and HUD animation foundation done and the last thing I need is the hand movement foundation. Once I have that then I can go on to AI. Finally, I think I have a art style that I can do but it will take a little bit of time to show. I want to also make a model of the starter gun as well. So much to do and not enough man power to do it...
