8/16/2020 Updates and Feedback

This week I made 3 versions of the first room.  It is very underwhelming because it feels like it was thrown together in 30 seconds.  It kind of was after I thought about what I expected in the room itself.  There are some missing elements that I was thinking of throwing in but I'm not sure if I should.  I also added in a feedback button that takes you to a google forms page where you can give feedback.  Making each room should be much easier now because the majority of this past week was about importing in the models from blender and getting them to look as close to blender model as possible.  Godot doesn't really handle the importing process completely good because blender kind of got to good with its materials.  Godot on the other hand is very good with its standard materials and does pretty much all that I need it to do.  I read online though that most of my problems will be fixed once I start to actually put proper UV maps onto the objects and not just relying on the engine to do proper mapping for me.  Other things that I noticed was that the character wasn't able to walk up and down slopes anymore even though it was programmed previous to this.  So, I had to fix that and then I also implemented in a thing where the player jumps slightly higher or lower depending on the slope that you are travelling at.  This could be used like the ghetto jump in metroid prime so I will make sure to design some levels with that in mind.  Finally, I have some sketches of what the outline of the starter pistol will look like and all of them look horrible but that is why I am making the outlines instead of the actual full gun which would have taken much more time and looked even worse than just the outline.

With this week being recapped I now have some plans for what I want to do for this week.  Now that I have some of the pipe line to transfer from blender to godot I'll be able to make some more of the rooms for people to test.  I want to get about 3 more levels done so this week and some more drawings for the silhouettes for the starter pistol.  Once I have enough rooms I will start to actually link up the rooms and have them load in with the previous rooms that I had made.

One final note is that I'm going to be doing these updates on Sunday because I have realized that I not only have more time on those days but I am more likely to actually update it then instead of just lying to myself about updating it on Friday or Saturday.
