5m30t20 Hell Has Broken Loose


This week is hopefully the slowest I will have.  There were about 3 days in which I didn't do anything as I was very frustrated at work and having to come home only to really sleep and then wake up and immediately go back to work.  Not a fun week.  I did make some progress but now I'm getting to the stage where I can't just design willy nilly anymore.  I have to come up with a solid game plan for how things will work.  For instance, this game is following the same genre that Metroid Prime is so I am pulling a lot of queues from that game so far.   However, my game is different and I have different wants for it that Metroid Prime was not able to do.  Like I want major landmarks to be seen from everywhere in the level.  Like if there was a giant tower in the center of the map I want the players to always see that and understand where they are in the world.  That means loading and unloading areas of the game needs to be done with a certain mindset.  Loading assets in is the primary focus of this week and making a design doc which I will freely post along side this once I get some of it down.  That being said, now I just need to understand how to do that part of making games. 

The intensity is rising.
